the woman behind the camera
I am a published and award winning Equine Photographer in the Midwest...
Kansas, USA to be exact. Horses are the CORE of my life. My whole entire life is molded around horses. They are everywhere and anywhere - no matter where I look around me at any given moment. They've been the core of my life for as long as I can remember.
I was that "weird" kid in school that was obsessed with horses. I was one of the lucky ones who had "horses" encoded in their DNA from birth, I guess. Horses have taught me so much about life, myself, and how to be "in the moment." YEARS of studying, training, and being around them have helped hone my skills in being able to properly photograph them. I guess somewhere along the line it was only natural that my career of choice would combine my two loves into one. Photography & Horses.
I believe in giving people something to remember of their equine partners...something that they are proud to hang on their walls or even display at their place of work. ART of their horses that makes them remember, WHERE, WHEN, and WHY they fell in love with THE HORSE and never looked back. I also aim to make a friend out of the person and horse I am photographing. I feel like to have a close friendship with those I work for is almost "key" to doing successful work...if you don't feel like you have a friend after a session with any photographer - something was missed. I don't ever want to miss that....I want you to remember the session OF your horse or of you and your horse and remember it as a fun moment in your life. A fun moment of horses, friends, and magic! By choosing me to be your photographer....you are not only gaining a photographer, but a friend, and gaining a forever cheerleader for you and your equine partner. I will feel your wins and your losses as if they were my own!
You can call me a professional #lightchaser because I don't use any flashes/strobes (horse safety is number 1 for me) so I'm forever chasing the "golden hours" of morning and evening light !!
"I want my photos to make you FEEL emotion, to connect with every horse in my photos. I want to show you the SOUL of the horse through my eyes and lens. Feel their power, their strength, and their heart.
I never just want to be the photographer who just "takes a photo of a horse" - I want to turn it into what THE HORSE has been for centuries....ART...and I would love to see YOUR horse be a part of my ART."
I reside here in Kansas with my Husband, Jonathan. Jonathan is a 7 year US Army Combat Veteran who bravely served two tours in Afghanistan. Jonathan is my anchor & plays the biggest "behind the scenes" roll in my business. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for him. We are blessed with 2 dogs, 2 horses, and 1 cat !!
